Decided to try out Gotham because, why not? New season TV is always worth checking out. And cos comic book.
Design wise, Gotham reminds me of the 90’s Batman cartoon. The layout of the police HQ would be insane in real life, but it looks really cool. They seem to be using the same filters as CSI New York. Which makes sense as Gotham basically looks like New York but with some gothic looking buildings added to the landscape.
The overall feel/mise-en-scene of the show is something similar to Sin City. Scuzzy, grey, suspect and questionable characters populate the city. With the one shining beacon of hope that is Jim Gordon. Who wants to solve the murder of the Waynes. And since the police system is corrupt and owned by gangsters and whatnot, he has to do that on the down-low.
Below is a shot of the Scorpion team with Robert Patrick.
The review quotes are LIES. FILTHY LIES!! Ok I may be overreacting. But I certainly did not fall in love with this movie…
Now I’ll admit, the main reason I went to see this movie was for David Tennant. I was never a fan of Outnumbered. Children in comedy usually makes me cringe. USUALLY.
Please watch the trailer, then watch the movie, and wait for your ideas to be ripped apart.
This movie was almost in 2 halves. For me, the first half was funny, charming, I didn’t even want to throttle the kids. Tennant was lovely, Pike was lovely, Miller was lovely, Connolly was lovely. The relationship between the kids, Lottie especially, and Gordy was lovely. I really liked how it was portrayed. The way she talked with her grandad. BUT shortly after that it lost me…(See below the cut for plot & spoilers & my thoughts…)
So I’ve watched 11 episodes of Jojo today. So far. I’m gonna get to 13. Half way. It’s eeeeeven weird/more over the top than the first series/part 1&2. I count this and series 2. It’s part 3 in the Jojo story, but I just think series 2.
Avdol is already my favourite character. Or Avuduru. Or Abdul. Your choice. I kinda like Avuduru.
And I like his stand too. The Mexican wrestling fire bird.
So I watched most of Aldnoah Zero in less than 2 days. I’d seen the first 3-4 eps before that, but I decided to catch up after seeing something spoiler-y on twitter.
The thing I like most is probably that the mecha’s in this anime look like ones from Gundam. The Martian’s mechas look like Zeon Mobile Suits, and Terran’s mechas look like Gundam Mobile Suits. In that the Martian’s mechas are all curvy and cooler looking, where as the ‘good guy’ Terran’s mechas are kinda square and angular and bit boring, imho.
Instantly I think ‘shiki’ which is vampire, in that anime series ‘Shiki’, but just means expression, or formula or ceremony?? D: And ‘suki’ which is like, and obviously ‘sushi’. So so far we got…
Shiki しき- Expression, formula or ceremony
Suki すき- Like
Sushi すき- Sushi :3
Kiseki きせき- Miracle! I know this cos of ‘Clamp no Kiseki’ XD
Those are the only words I truly knew before… these are some I didn’t really 🙂
Kushi くし- Skewer, for like, BBQing stuff I think.
Seki せき- Place or seat.
Kishi きし- means Dejavu, which is pretty damn cool.
Kiku きく- Listen (that’s not what Navi says in Zelda all the time is it? Or does it just say ‘Listen’ in every language?)
Kiki きき- Equipment? Device?? I only knew it as a name XD
Shishi しし- is a Chinese guardian lion… and a place name. But it’s a Lion protector in Japanese Buddhism and Shintoism which I think is pretty cool.
I’m gonna leave it there. Cos I’ll be clutching at straws lol. I need to find my Japanese dictionary…
