Max Factory Makoto Sawatari 1/8th Figure – Finally GET!

January 6, 2009

On monday, as you may have read, I finally recieved a figure I’d been wanting for, well… a fair while now… Makoto Sawatari, a character from Kanon, a game from Key turned into an anime series twice, once in 2002 and once in 2006. The latter of which is the best, in terms or animation and truth to the original game story. She cost more than any other figures have done in the past, BUT she’s worth every penny. I don’t look at her and think ‘OMG THE PRICE’, I just think ‘Auuuuuuuuuuu’. I’m just so glad glad I caved and ignored the price tag and got her. It’s opened me up to the option of spending more on a figure I really-really want, not on impulse buys though.

A shot of the lovely Makoto herself. The flow is magnificent.

January Loot Part 1 – Makoto & Shana

January 5, 2009

Today I got two of my 3 expected girlies! Makoto Sawatari, the most expensive figure I’ve bought to date, and one I’ve wanted ever since seeing Kanon(2006) and figure reviews of her and being taunted by its rarity…

Max Factory Makoto Sawatari – To get or not to get, that, is the question…

December 21, 2008

I have… finally found a place where Makoto is in stock…. only problem is, she’s about £58. And the most I’ve spent on any figure is £40… I know I’ll have to step up the price bracket sometime… specially with the recession…. but £58 for a 1/8th scale, fairly small figure. About 17.5cm apparantly, I know she’s bending over though lol, she’s taller than Ayu, and Ayu(also available on this site) costs more… I want her too….:sob: I’m so glad I’ll have christmas money soon…. will solve many figure issues….

What I want to know is, would you (or did you pay more or less than) £58, or £88 dollars roundabouts, for this figure? I know she’s pretty hard to get, and she’s gorgeous AND my favourite Kanon character, AND its Max Factory, so quality is assured, and on all the reviews I’ve seen, she’s just lovely… but is £58 more than its worth? Or have some of you paid more for similar sized figures?

Reviews for her available on Mukyaa, HappySoda and Howagirlfigures.

Quality Comparison – AVI vs RMVB

Comparison of Air TV files

Comparison of Air TV files

Sometimes when I just wanna see the series quickly, I will go with RMVB files, even though the quality is obviously much worse. If there are smaller MKV files available, I will go with them, but in Air TV’s case there weren’t any. I downloaded the last(proper) episode, 12, in AVI format just to see how much better the quality is. Same size, but so much more pixelation in the RMVB files. I usually got with AVI’s cos I know them, I’ve had less dealings with H264 files. Xvids are for me!!! I get me the best quality files if its a series I know I’ll love.

(I know they’re not in exactly the same place, but its about the same and you can definately see the difference.

My Past Watchlist

July 12, 2008

This is simply a list of what full series or OVA fansubs I’ve watched. Plain and simple.

  • Sky Girls
  • Lovely Complex
  • H2O Footprints in the sand
  • The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
  • Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni & Kai
  • Ouran High School Host Club
  • Onegai Twins
  • Clannad
  • Kanon
  • Yotsunoha
  • Kurenai
  • Tokyo Marble Chocolate

I think thats all the full series I’ve managed to watch since last July…. I’ve tried out numerous things like (in no particular order) Lucky Star, Shugo Chara, Myself;Yourself, NHK, Da Capo II, Kanokon, True Tears, Nanatsuiro Drops and a few others beside. I like shojo anime much more than anime full of fanservice. I do like moe though. Moe is all good in my books. I can put up with loli, as long as its not too over the top, same with fanservice. Stuff like Kanokon was just too fanservice heavy for me. I like story, substance. Like Kurenai. That was good. I do like some trash, but only some, in small doses lol.

This season I plan to keep up with Strike Witches(yay its from the people who brought us Sky Girls!!!) and Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu(anything bout a girl otaku is fine with me). Last season nothing struck me as fantastic untill someone suggested Kurenai and I took them up on it.

Anyways, that really is all for now. Must sleep….. Ja ne.
