Okaeri~

April 6, 2009

So I’m back home. To the land of neverending cat hair on my computer screen lol. And most of my figures are back at my uni accomodation…. It does feel great to be back though. And weirdly, it doesn’t feel, to me, like I’ve been gone. I’m sure its different for my family(cats included) cos I’ve been gone the majority of 7 months. It just means I’ll be taking up space and eating their food instead of me buying my own haha.

I still haven’t finished unpacking. And am planning to play my PS2 for the first time in ages. (Can’t decide between P3 Fes or P4…. gah decisions….) Shirley is sitting just to the left of my laptop screen, and Nono a little behind her. The other 4 are spread about in various places. Had to shift some stuff just to make room… god knows what’ll happen when I bring home the rest…… I can’t sell any… I just can’t… Not yet… not untill I’m uber-uber desperate for space/money or both!

Anyways… just checking in. And giving ya’ll some Mio-love. Isn’t she darling??!! Now I gotta find out what this problem is with my speakers…. nothings making any noise… gaaaaah.

Solid Theater Tama-chan 1/6th PVC Figure Review

December 4, 2008

Now Tama-chan really is a case of the ‘impulsebuyitus’ thats seems to be going around the otaku community like wildfire. I got her at the October Expo for £25. Good price for a 1/6th scale figure. She’s about 19cm tall, a fairly loli character compared to most of my collection.

(I’m sorry for the crap quality of photos, I took these before I worked out the new light set up lol)

A fairly basic outfit. But it’s pulled off well by a great sculpt and great paintwork to boot.

Kotobukiya Ikuno Komaki ~ToHeart2 Another Days~ 1/8th PVC Figure – An every-otaku review

November 26, 2008

Oha all! It’s almost 4am in the UK, and I have no lessons tomorrow, so blatently, I’m gonna be awake till about 5 lol. Sleeping in LATE lol. Then going for movies in the evening I believe… work inbetween then though. Like a good little student. :beam: Onto the review I say!

Today we look at Ikuno Komaki. Manaka’s younger sister.(A figure of which I might be getting for xmas off some friendlies.) The unique thing about Ikuno-kun is that she is in a wheelchair. I had never before seen a wheelchair-bound figure before Ikuno-kun. I first spied her on Play.com of all places. And avoided buying due to the £35 price tag and the smallish size, about 13.5cm or 5.5inches (Michiru Yamada is about the same, I’m sorry I haven’t been mentioning the heights of the figures in my reviews… thats one piece of information I always look for in reviews…. gomenasai…). When I saw her at the London Expo in October for £25 I didn’t hesitate in getting her. (Along with Michiru, Tamaki, Asakura and Fuko lol, £25 each, £125 total at that stand alone…) I was soooo pleased I finally got her! As you may already know, I love ToHeart. ToHeart2(and AD) in particular. I’m currently watching the first ToHeart anime. On ep 4. Tis nice so far. Nice backgrounds. But is making me wanna buy all the available older ToHeart figures… I already own 3…. but there are quite a few more I’m missing….(just reminded me… I made a list of my figures, just before the Midlands Expo… needs slightly updating….)

The figure itself has a great sculpt. The paintwork is nice. Very neat lines on the skirt detail and neckerchief detail. I’m very happy with Koto’s workmanship here.

back2

The pose is nice. Slightly turning, book in hand. Very cute. Captures the sickly-hospital-bound archetype well.

ikuno-back

The hair is nice. Though you can see a joint line in this photo on the hair. Only a travesty if your displaying back-first. And I’ve never encounted anyone to do that… yet lol. You can also see, the familar clear pink base. Even though you don’t really need a base for this figure due to the wheelchair. More pics n details below.

(Gotta love the twintails right? lol) This is only my second figma. Haruhi being my first(you’ll see her here too lol). The figma I’m REALLY looking forward too, and preordered, was Tsuruya-san!!! The green-haired beauty!!! She’s been shipped, now all I gotta do is wait…

And so! On to todays loot!

I don’t know why exactly, but I’m much prefering Kagami to Haruhi. It might be because Kagami doesnt have a gammy-leg…but I think I prefer the hair this way. Easier to move the head. And its fun to move the twintails hehe.

Jumping together! So sweet!!

Is she not the sweetest widdle thing? Back or front, she has charm, character. It might be the stubby figures, Haruhi’s got more delicate hands, more scared of breaking them. BUT! I have a few quibbles with Kagami(and probably the other Lucky Star Figmas.) which I will go through later…

Kotobukiya Kotomi Ichinose Figure Review – Kotomi-GET!!

October 15, 2008

‘The place changes and goes. Like a wind, like clouds. Like the traces of the heart, no halt to the places.’

A quote found on the back of the box. From the song ‘Ana’ off the Clannad soundtrack. I never really liked the song, but recognised the lyrics from the beginning and from one episode….

Today I got my Kotomi!! I ordered her late-late monday night, she was shipped on tuesday, and arrived today via Parcelforce!! I finally caved… I know I should be saving money for the London Expo… but I have no clue if Kotomi will be available at the Expo… And I didn’t wanna miss out on getting her. I missed out on Fuko on the Play.com site… was not gonna miss out Kotomi… And since there is only one Kotomi Ichinose review on the web that I could find, and it’s on a foreign site, that doing my own would be ok. Took loads of pictures and got a decent amount of decent ones.

Isn’t she cute??!! The photo’s on the other review didnt make her look good, too close some of them, but when you see her in real life she’s sooo cute sweeter! So much like Kotomi in the series!(Clannad for those who don’t know lol.)

Without the props.

Without the props.

Isn’t she darling?! And I’m getting better with the camera I think…. it helps that the lighting in the room was good too. Seeing her like this just makes me wanna rewatch Clannad all over again!! But I’ve got so much to watch!!

Kotomi-chan to the side.

I hope these photos make you all go out and buy her while you still can! Because she’s totally worth getting! (More pics below here!!!)

Clayz 1/8th Nogizaka Haruka figure – It’s out finally!!!

October 14, 2008
This is what the figure looked like in preview shots.

This is what the figure looked like in preview shots.

She looked gorgeous in the pics released earlier this year.

And this is what she’s turned out like, after a little delay in release. After assessing the differences, colour and what not, she still looks gorgeous! I think I prefered the hair of the preview shots, and the eyes aren’t the same sort of watercolour-style, but still pretty. And she’s retained the Haruka-ness too.

The actual detail of the eye looks pretty lame. But bigger than real size close up pics usually make stuff look worse than it is. (I hope thats the case with Haruka-chan….)
