Kotobukiya Michiru Yamada ~ToHeart2 Another Days~ 1/8th PVC Figure – An every-otaku review

November 23, 2008

Welcome once again to my humble photoshoot! Which I agree! Is too dark…. I tried pointing another light at them, but there arn’t many plugs in my room. And many wires are already tangled behind my workspace lol.

Today we look at the lovely specimen, Michiru Yamada, from ToHeart2 Another Days. The character is friends with Chie Yoshioka :woop woop!!:, who you will see a little later, and of course, the main protagonist of the first ToHeart2 game, Konomi Yuzuhara. Chie is still my favourite. Although megane on figures are lovely.

best-view

She’s rather moe if I do say so myself. She has nice scruffy looking hair too. And the same uniform as Chie Yoshioka. Slightly different yellow to Chie, but fairly close.

front1

The hands don’t rest exactly on the edge of the brick wall which she’s sat on, which is a shame, but not the worst possible thing. That pose reminds me of an episode of Friends lol. One of the ones after Ross finds out about Rachael and Joey and Joey tells Rachael to say ‘I’m so sorry!’ while doing pretty much what Michiru is doing with her jublees. And as far as jublees go, they are smaller than Chie’s, but bigger than Konomi’s lol.

Michiru is not as ‘muchi’ as Chie by any means, looks more tomboyish in figure, hair etc. The jumper seems to be a slightly different plastic/finish/feel what have you. Chie’s is slightly smoother. They both have nice shading in the jumper aread though. And sleeves. I love the skirts. I do. I believe they’re clear pvc painted on the top layer. Because the under skirt looks very funky. And looks like it won’t leave paint marks when removing the skirt either. Many more pics to be seen, read on folks!

Kotobukiya Tamaki Kousaka Maid ver. 1/8th PVC figure – The every-otaku review.

November 21, 2008

(See what I did? Like ‘every-man’ only I made it ‘every-otaku’ because we’re otaku lol. And by ‘every-otaku’ I mean those of us who don’t have uber-awesome camera’s and a wicked photoshoot set up lol. The basic, no-holes-barred view of the figure. No fancy lighting….:sob:)

Today I’ll be looking at the 1/8th Maid version Tamaki Kousaka figure by Kotobukiya. I have 6 more reviews to post after this one lol. I had a mass photoshoot a couple of days ago lol.

front

First off, she is a mighty fine figure. She looks great. Has a great figure, great paint job, great hair, great everything. Even the chair is awesome. The so-called wood at the front of the chair could be better. But frankly your not gonna notice that if your looking at this figure.

feet

She has great pegs. And such lovely feet! (Which you will see a bit later.) And stockings!! Gotta love the stockings, or knee socks, anything like that is awesome on a figure.

leftside

Her legs look so great… and they got shape! So pretty. AND I just noticed, painted finger nails! Pink!

London Expo Weekend – Figures + Cosplay + More!

October 27, 2008

Expo has now come and gone. And so has over £250 of my money. But all to a very good cause!! Which you will see later on.

This is the first time I’ve been to both days of the Expo. Usually I just got for the sunday, cheaper travel and alot less people. I didnt realise just how many less people went on a sunday… Saturday was so busy….. too busy…. So busy I’m almost definately never going on saturday again…. We got to the Excel Center a little later than we wanted… because one of our group got lost.(They weren’t travelling with us to begin with, we met up at the hostel we stayed at.) So… we got there just before they should have stopped selling fast track tickets… but they’d stopped early…. so we had to join the MASSIVE normal entry queue….. which we were stuck in for just over an hour I think… might have been more… I can’t remember well… have blocked it from my mind….

After we got in the queue people continued to turn up… it was insane… And we didnt start moving properly for AGES…. it was so boring…

Getting closer… round the corner of the building lol

Finally…. So nearly there…. Along the way I did get some shots of random cosplay though. Not all bad being stuck in the queue.

Name that Twilight Princess character…. since I’ve forgotten her name… lol It’s a really awesome outfit though. Great headpiece.

Name that cosplay! I think they’re from Final Fantasy….12?

Serio HMX-13 Figure – Photo-Review

September 20, 2008

This is the third pvc figure I bought on tuesday. A character from the original To Heart series, Serio, or Serio HMX-13 being her full name. She stands at almost 20cm(8 inches). She’s sporting the same uniform as one of my favourite girls, Chie Yoshioka, from To Heart 2, and TH2AD. The colours are a bit different, but there is a considerable gap in time when the two figures were made. 2005 vs 2007, there will be some obvious difference. The older figures I have seem more basic in the facial department, but the clothing is still well sculpted, hair is usually a tad chunky though.

She’s also carrying a bag like Chie. Different kind of bag, and in a different pose, which is good, too much similarity is boring. The hair seems quite shiney in this pic, but the lighting makes it look worse than it is. It’s about the same as the Kotobukiya Konomi Yuzuhara from To Heart 2. Although theres only months in between the two figures being made, Konomi just seems superior in build, facially it looks better, the eyes are better and it’s just cute all round. This may be due to the character designs of To Heart looking significantly different to the character designs of To Heart 2 though.

The colours of the figure are fairly plain, but well painted, so it’s all good. Her skirt is gently wafting as if there were a light breeze, which is also nice, better than just a static figure any day. Even if the pose is static, just standing, wafting clothing can make a figure so much better. The paintwork stands up, even now, 3 years after its making, the only bit which is below par is the bag, would have been nice if they’d got that spot on too, since the clothing doesnt let it down. Some nice skin shading on the legs and nice shading on the clothes too. The yellow is alot brighter than Chie’s sweater, although the HLJ pic doesnt show it. Her pose is cute, and reserved, kinda shy, I didn’t have any shy-looking figures before this. And it’s intresting that every To Heart figure I own is holding a bag, even Tomoko Hoshino!! (I love the ribs on her sweater!! Bagged her a few expo’s back for just £6!!!) Once I get Multi and Akari it will ruin my bag-holding run, but thats fine lol, was a total fluke after all. And I can’t help but notice how the price of figures have risen in the past few years. 3400, 3800 yen these To Heart figures cost back in 2005 at time of release. And how we’re paying over 5000 yen for figures of the same standards in alot of cases? Seems weird….

Anyways, I’m moving into my uni accomodation tomorrow, I think I’ll get the net connected without much hassle, but we’ll have to see… I’ll try and set some articles to get published on a timer… I think you can do that… I’ll have a go anyways lol.

Chie Yoshioka – That Green-haired Gal

July 26, 2008

I realised, after someone asked who the girl in my header was, that I haven’t introduced one of my favourite anime girls. Or, to be more specific, my favourite girl from a visual novel. The only reason I like her is because I saw the figure of her on DannyChoo and knew I had to have her! The figures got a great pose, she’s got an adorable face, and she’s not stick thin like alot of figures! She has some shape! You can see her here, and this person has Konomi-chan too!!! Like me!!! Gotta love To Heart 2!!
