Avatar didn’t need to be in 3D…

Seen the movie 3 times now. First two times in 3D. And today, in 2D. I’ve wanted to see it in 2D since I first saw it lol.

I do love the movie, I didn’t want to, but I do… I just don’t see what 3D adds to the experience… all the special effects & CGI look just as good in 2D, and you don’t have to wear those damn clunky 3D glasses that block out everything around you. Until theres a way to see 3D movies without making us wear the glasses… I think they should stop plugging it so much… its such a gimic *sigh*… I can’t wait till this 3D phase dies down…

Sure it has flaws, and a few continuity goofs I noticed, but I’m willing to overlook them lol.

Oh, I kept forgetting, but remembered just now lol, the noise alot of the creatures on Pandora made reminded me of dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. I think it was the horse-things(Direhouse/Pa’li) & the banshee’s(Ikran)… Yeah… definitely Jurassic Park.. the noise Raptors make.

I agree with you I think the movie would be just as good in 2D. I do think that the 3D added to the overall effect of the film, but if it hadn’t been there I wouldn’t have missed it. The special effects are amazing enough without them jumping out at you.

Only seen the movie in 3D, but it didn’t really do much for me. It was good, but I probably would have been just as satisfied watching it normally.

I will say that stuff in the trailers popped out more at me than things in the actually movie. I dunno, maybe if with all the explosions and what not if things were actually flying towards the audience I would have felt more involved in the 3D.

I loved Avatar as well. I haven’t seen it in 2D yet, I saw it once in 3D and once in 3D IMAX (which was great), so I personally can’t really compare.

I WILL however say that the whole 3D craze is kind of retarded. People were obsessed with 3D a long time ago (80’s or early 90s or something), and then 3D pretty much disappeared until of late. I never really bought in to it much.

I plan on buying this on bluray when it comes out, and I’ll watch it in 2D then, but I don’t have the money to go see it again (otherwise I probably would).

I saw Avatar in 3D and I thought the graphics were really impressive. That was about all I remember though because I think I dozed off somewhere in the middle. A few of my friends said they fell asleep too.

I’ve seen Coraline in 3-D. I thought that movie was amazing in 3-D. Haven’t seen Avatar yet though, I plan on renting it when it comes to blu-ray.

Agree with ya 2D is good enough 😀 Plus I hate wearing those bulky 3D glasses for 3hrs…

The movie was pretty cool but not as amazing as I thought it would be, especially with all the hype. The special effects were amazing but I don’t understand why this is as popular as it is. It’s OK. Not awesome. Just OK.
